Three Wizened Men
The Bible tells us a story about three scholars who followed a star. Caspar, Melchior, and Balthasar may have been kings or astrologers or priests, no one knows. But they were called magi, and that meant they were wise. Whether fact or legend, their legacy has been sealed, and they are revered.
Today, there is a trio who takes great pleasure whenever a beacon is pointed in their direction. They are not kings or astrologers or priests, but malignant egotists who have chosen a different path toward their legacy. When they leave this mortal coil, the world will remember only of their reckless and messianic greed and insatiable appetite for conflict and manipulation.
Not wisemen, but withered men … wasted and desiccated.
Scripture tells us that the magi were known to share certain characteristics; integrity, emotional maturity, courage, resilience, and discipline. Their kindness toward others was complete and unmistakable. There was thick skin along with tender hearts.
Needless to say, the exact opposite describes Vlad, Ben, and Don. It is so obvious it’s now universally acknowledged. They have reduced themselves to banality. Their last names have already created a vile association that will last forever. Judas, Cain, Sodom, Brutus, Nero.
And now the world sees three wizened old men destined for eternal fire.
They will have earned it.
