2026
A bell rings tonight, another year fades,
Twelve months of chaos and made-up parades;
We move on to wishes, a new chapter unfolds,
Attempts to find sunlight will have to be bold.
A felon and failure with infantile words
Has bellowed and brayed like an old jailbird,
“You are scum!” he yells at the top of his lungs,
But the few who are listening speak only in tongues.
Hope always rises at the dawn of a year,
A promise that old shadows will, at last, disappear;
In the canvas of time we want colors to glisten,
They will, if more people take time to listen.
So raise a glass to the future, unseen and unknown,
Strength must be gathered, we cannot postpone;
Our better angels will not stay in hiding,
Progressives and Moderates will do the deciding.
